Avery Waite, Executive Director of MusAid, visited Antigua to explore how his organisation can assist the ABYSO in its development.  MusAid is a US-based non-profit which connects musicians across the globe through educational exchanges designed to inspire individual and community transformation.  Avery is himself a Julliard-trained Cellist and an active performer, teacher, composer and arts advocate.

While on island, Avery conducted string workshops with the ABYSO students. He also held meetings with the ABYSO administrative team to discuss the current structure and future plans for the development of the programme.  Avery also met with His Excellency, Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda and Patron of the ABYSO.

Trumpet performer and teacher Zach Buie accompanied Avery on this visit.  Zach held workshops with the ABYSO trumpet, trombone and French horn students and laid the foundation for the development of a Junior ABYSO brass programme.

On behalf of MusAid Avery and Zach also donated musical instruments and accessories to the ABYO.
