The ABYSO is pleased to announce the first recipients of the ABYSO Music Scholarships to cover the cost of private tuition with local tutors. Scholars must submit a written application. The scholarship is open to citizens of Antigua and Barbuda under the age of 18 who are members of the ABYSO or the ABYSO Junior programme. Musicians must demonstrate a keen commitment to developing as musicians and meet Orchestra attendance requirements.

The scholarships are tenable for one year at approved music schools on the Island. The recipients of the scholarships for the 2019 to 2020 academic year are:

  • David Isaac, oboe
  • David Joseph, trombone
  • J’herdine Browne, violin
  • Johnathan Mills, violin
  • Kaylin Joseph, violin
  • Khara Joseph, violin
  • Orlando Gordon, trombone
  • Resa Nelson, flute
  • Sa’Kyah Leadeatte, violin.

The scholarships have been awarded by local businesses and philanthropists and international partners.
