Twenty-two musicians from the ABYSO joined the Duke Ellington School of the Arts (DESA) Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra, Encore Creativity for Older Adults, Annapolis Symphony Academy and The Northwest School for a performance of Bizet’s Habenera with Emmy and Grammy award-winning International mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves. The performance was a tribute to the life and service of renowned American lawyer and jurist Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

ABYSO musicians participated in four months of productive, interactive and fun workshops led by DESA Interim Chair, Instrumental Music and Director of Strings, Heather Haughn. Heather enjoys a diverse career as an active chamber musician, orchestral player, and teacher. She visited the ABYSO in 2019 in Antigua to conduct string workshops and currently teaches the ABYSO violas online as part of the ABYSO Academy.

The performance was a tremendous success and can be accessed here https://youtu.be/AM7zxJF8AwQ.  The ABYO extends thanks to Ms Haughn and DESA for involving us in this amazing tribute to an incredible woman!
